ACDF - Spinal Fusion

Cervical spine conditions can cause chronic neck pain or radiating pain in the head, arms, or fingers, often impacting daily life. At Total Spine & Orthopedics, we offer minimally invasive spine surgery to relieve pain with less recovery time and lower infection risk than traditional surgery.

What is ACDF Surgery?

Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat herniated or degenerative discs in the neck (cervical spine). Through a small incision at the front of the neck, the surgeon carefully moves aside muscles to access the spine. Using a special X-ray for guidance, the damaged disc is removed, and a bone graft or titanium plate is inserted to stabilize the area. This helps relieve pressure on nearby nerves, reducing pain, numbness, or weakness caused by disc damage. ACDF is commonly recommended for patients with chronic neck pain from disc degeneration or herniation.

What Symptoms Can
ACDF Relieve?

Herniated discs and degenerative disc disease in the cervical (neck) spine often cause pain by compressing the nearby nerve. While symptoms may vary depending on the severity of the condition and other medical factors, the general symptoms of these two conditions include:
